Responsibilities:

• Admit patients to the preoperative unit and assist in their physical preparation for surgery.
• Ensure the completeness of patient charts and perform preoperative preparations as directed by the physician.
• Communicate the surgical process to patients effectively.
• Deliver professional nursing care during the immediate postoperative phase (PACU).
• Assess both the physical and psychological needs of patients.
• Evaluate and implement necessary measures to ensure a safe recovery from anesthesia.
• Prepare patients for discharge and ensure their safe release from the facility.
• Act as a patient advocate throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases, ensuring safety during recovery from anesthesia.

Qualifications:Job Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Possession of a current Nursing License in the State of Kansas.
• BLS certification must be acquired within 14 days of hire or transfer into this role, prior to providing direct patient care.
• Current ACLS certification.
• PALS certification, as required for primary PACU RNs (PRN RNs are exempt).

Preferred Job Requirements:

• A minimum of two years of nursing experience.
