Through programming focusing on health and well-being, education, and community engagement, Apex for Youth creates transformative social connections and celebrates cultural identity to build the confidence and self-efficacy of future generations.

Apex serves approximately 2,700 youth annually from elementary through young adulthood. We provide children and young adults with opportunities to develop strong relationships with adults who volunteer as consistent and caring mentors and role models.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Social Video Producer and Editor is a hands-on creative role within Apex for Youth’s Marketing team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Growth & Data. This person owns and scales our social-first video content across all platforms and channels, leading day-to-day production while helping shape the long-term growth of Apex’s video presence.

They run the full production cycle themselves, from the first idea through directing, shooting, and editing, and can take a piece all the way to publication without handing it off. We're looking for someone with strong interview skills who can interview a wide variety of people (non-English speakers, celebrities, youth, and families).

The role also shapes Apex’s content strategy, editorial direction, and recurring video series, turning our programs' work and our community’s stories into social video content that audiences actually watch and share. We’re looking for someone with a balance of documentary and social instinct to capture the honest moment while also keeping a close eye on what performs, so the content both conveys the mission and reaches as many people as possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Video Creative Development & Production (40%)

  • Conceive, shoot, and edit high-quality social-first content across platforms, from quick turnaround social cuts to larger-scale storytelling campaigns for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and beyond.
  • Capture content at events, programs, and community moments, including work with youth, families, staff, partners, and notables.
  • Adapt content formats and approaches in response to emerging social media trends, platform updates, and audience engagement patterns.
  • Enable evergreen storytelling and partnership opportunities by surfacing reusable voices, stories, and assets
  • Explore and establish video styles and tone to meet the overall marketing needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Growth & Data to align content execution with performance insights and growth goals.

Video Strategy & Content Series Development (30%)

  • Direct and evolve Apex’s video content strategy, grounded in platform-native storytelling and audience growth
  • Lead, pitch, and develop repeatable content series, formats, and franchises that scale across programs, campaigns, and events
  • Translate organizational priorities (programming, fundraising, thought leadership) into clear content narratives and editorial direction
  • Identify and experiment with emerging trends, formats, and storytelling approaches, adapting them to fit Apex’s voice and mission

Cross-Team Collaboration & Prep (15%)

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Marketing Manager to align the editorial calendar and identify content opportunities based on department goals, programming priorities, and cultural moments.
  • Own pre-production end to end: shot lists, treatments, scheduling, location scouting, and on-camera talent coordination, so every shoot has a plan before you ever hit record.
  • Brief and prep speakers, youth, and staff ahead of time, so they feel comfortable and camera-ready when it counts.
  • Bring a creative point of view into cross-team planning and video ownership, and pitching story angles, formats, and fresh approaches early, so content isn't an afterthought tacked onto a program but baked into how teams think from the start.

Media and Production Management (10%)

  • Maintain and update Apex’s speaker and media database, including staff experts, youth speakers, alumni, and board members.
  • Prep the gear and the logistics: confirm equipment is charged, packed, and shoot-ready; scout the space; and have a backup plan for when the light, the room, or the schedule doesn't cooperate.
  • Manage media releases and consent, especially for youth and families, so every story is captured and shared responsibly and in line with Apex's standards.
  • Organize, maintain, and tag content assets (video, photography, graphics) in shared drives or asset management systems.
  • Ensure content is properly archived and easily accessible for future use.
  • Establish and maintain clear systems and workflows for content storage and retrieval

Brand & Production Support (5%)

  • Execute content in alignment with Apex’s brand voice, visual identity, and storytelling principles
  • Provide light guidance and support to internal teams on content capture and best practices.
  • Own production logistics, including planning, equipment, budgets, and vendor coordination
  • Ensure equipment readiness and reliability for shoots and events
  • Develop efficient production workflows that support speed, quality, and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with the programming and development department for cohesive storytelling and talent engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required with relevant experience.
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience in content creation, with a strong focus on video, photography, and social media
  • Demonstrated experience shooting and editing short-form video for social platforms.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong understanding of social media formats, pacing, and audience engagement.
  • Highly organized with experience managing content libraries or databases.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments, including live events and community settings.
  • Ability to take direction, incorporate feedback, and execute consistently.
  • Availability to work nights and Saturdays to capture program events as needed, with flexibility for days off.

Salary range : The hourly rate for this position is $50 per hour.

Schedule: This position will work 16-24 hours per week through the end of January 2027, with the possibility of going full-time starting in February 2027
